#1 ACKNOWLEDGE 

I acknowledge and recognize that Black women, girls and gender expansive people exist in a society where cultural and systemic norms violently target their right to safely thrive, while invalidating and invisibilizing their pain and trauma. 

I PLEDGE TO BE ACCOUNTABLE!

I will affirm my commitment to nurture spaces for Black women, girls and gender expansive people to feel safe, to heal, to thrive and be joyous.

I will advocate for and demand that policy makers establish and enact a Protect Black Women and Girls Act of California.

As a non Black woman, girl or gender expansive person, I will become a more intentional ally by listening and learning in solidarity while using my power and privilege to build a stronger culture of care.

I will unapologetically take up space and boldly encourage others to use their body and voices to advocate for Black women, girls and gender expansive people.

I pledge to adhere to and comply with all 5 Petals of Emancipation. By holding ourselves and each other accountable to this pledge at all times, we will promote an environment of safety and community care for Black women, girls and gender-expensive people to move freely throughout society without the threat of harm or violence.
